Connecting Notion

To use our summary service, you need to connect your Notion account:

  1. Go to your Dashboard
  2. Click the "Connect Notion" button
  3. You'll be redirected to Notion's authorization page
  4. Grant the necessary permissions for our integration
  5. After approval, you'll be redirected back to your dashboard

Important Note

Our application only requests the minimum permissions required to read your pages. We cannot modify or delete any of your Notion content.

Sharing Pages with the Integration

After connecting Notion, you need to explicitly share pages with our integration:

  1. In Notion, open the page you want to summarize
  2. Click the "Share" button in the top-right corner
  3. In the search box, search for "Notion Summary App"
  4. Select our integration from the results
  5. The page is now accessible to our app for summarization

Troubleshooting Tip

If you don't see any pages after connecting, make sure you've shared at least one page with the integration as described above.

Working with Summaries

Creating Summaries

To create a new summary:

  1. Navigate to Create Summary
  2. Select one of your shared Notion pages from the list
  3. Click "Create Summary" to start the process
  4. You'll be redirected to the summary page, where you can see the status

Understanding Summary Status

  • Pending: Your summary request is queued for processing
  • Processing: Our AI is currently generating your summary
  • Completed: The summary is ready to view
  • Failed: There was an error generating the summary

Managing Summaries

You can view all your summaries on the Summaries page. From there, you can:

  • View any summary
  • Delete summaries you no longer need
  • Regenerate summaries if needed

Troubleshooting

No pages showing up after connecting

Make sure you've explicitly shared pages with the integration as described in the Sharing Pages section.

Summary failed to generate

This could be due to several reasons:

  • The page might be too large or complex
  • The page might contain unsupported content types
  • There might be temporary issues with our AI service

Try again later or with a different page. If the problem persists, contact support.

Connection lost with Notion

If your Notion connection isn't working:

  1. Go to your Dashboard
  2. Click "Disconnect Notion"
  3. Then click "Connect Notion" to reconnect
  4. Re-authorize the integration on Notion's site

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I summarize any type of Notion page?

Our system works best with text-based Notion pages. While we support basic formatting, tables, and lists, some complex elements like embedded files may not be included in the summary.

How long does it take to generate a summary?

Most summaries are generated within 30 seconds to 2 minutes, depending on the length and complexity of the page.

Is there a limit to how many summaries I can create?

There are no strict limits, but we encourage responsible usage. For extremely high-volume needs, please contact us.

How are my summaries stored?

Summaries are stored securely in our database and are only accessible to you. We do not share your summaries with third parties.

Can I edit a summary after it's generated?

Currently, we don't support editing summaries. However, you can regenerate a summary if you need a different version.

Can I disconnect my Notion account?

Yes, you can disconnect your Notion account at any time from your dashboard. This will revoke our access to your Notion pages.
